Title: The Geography of Redox: Spatial Niches and the Control of Cellular Signaling and Function

Speaker: Dr. Jay R. Thiagarajah, , (M.D., Ph.D.), Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, USA.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Jay R. Thiagarajah, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School Co-Director, Congenital Enteropathy Program; Gastroenterologist, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Boston Children’s Hospital

Jay R. Thiagarajah, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician-scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where his laboratory studies how cells sense and interact with their surroundings and how membrane proteins and lipids contribute to signaling, mucosal immunity, and cellular metabolism. His research integrates imaging, molecular, and physiological approaches to understand how epithelial cells maintain homeostasis and how these processes are disrupted in disease. The lab has made several contributions to defining the mechanisms underlying epithelial transport and congenital diarrheal disorders. Work in the lab aims to translate fundamental discoveries into new therapeutic strategies for patients with pediatric disease.
