Professor Valentine Joseph (1929-2017)
We invite you, the worldwide Alumni of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo to join us in creating a lasting and worthy tribute to an exceptional teacher and one of the most beautiful human beings we were so lucky to see grace our lecture halls during our campus days, the late Professor Valentine Joseph.
We have all, over the years have studied under many great teachers, but Professor Joseph was able to enhance our worldview to such an illuminating extent, we are sure you’ll agree that when we look back on the Colombo University Faculty of Science Alumni Association (CUFSAA), in gratitude, has launched a tribute to this magnificent teacher and human being. We have now submitted a proposal to the Faculty to create a “Professor Valentine Joseph Memorial Scholarship awarded by the Colombo University Faculty of Science Alumni Association of North America (CUFSAA).”
Our Formal proposal obtained initial approval from the faculty and now going through the formal process at the University of Colombo. We officially launched this project at Tamasha 2018. This scholarship is an official University of Colombo Scholarship.

The Scholarship
We at CUFSAA took the true spirit of Professor Joseph when designing this scholarship. It is a premium scholarship aimed at paying around Rs. 10,000 towards a student taking both academic achievement and economic needs into consideration. We need to raise at least US$10,000 towards an endowment to achieve this. We are glad to say that within just a few hours raised quite an impressive portion of the targeted endowment (Around US$ 3000) from the appreciative alumni present at the Tamasha. We are still, quite a distance away from our ambitious target, and we need your help now to reach it!
How you can contribute:
There are two ways you can contribute to this initiative.
- We encourage you to pay through the Paypal button. You can make your donations to Professor Valentine Joseph Memorial Scholarship Fund via Paypal. Click on the following button:
- You can make a check on behalf of “Colombo University Faculty of Science Alumni Association” and mail it to the following address. Please indicate that your donation is for the Professor Valentine Joseph Memorial Scholarship Fund on the memo line of the check. Please email and let us know about your pledge at info@cufsaa.org as well.
