Cleveland Area Attractions

The 2018 CUFSAA Reunion and Annual General Meeting will be held in Cleveland, Ohio over the Memorial Day weekend (May 26-27, 2018).

CUFSAA is busy making plans for a memorable Memorial Day weekend in Cleveland when we get a chance to relive our campus days, while having an abundance of pure fun just as we did in Edison NJ, last year. While you are visiting the reunion, make it also an opportunity to see the wonderful city of Cleveland and the greater Cleveland area.

Among the top attractions in Cleveland is the Rock and Roll of Fame Museum which is a city landmark, and spreads over six floors offering a multimedia exuberance and showcases some rarities as the original manuscript of “Purple Haze!. Here you can  alsocontinue the dancing you did at the reunion, this time to the music of rock legends. Of course, for us the Science Alumni, the world famous iconic skeleton “Lucy”, is one of the top attractions which can be seen at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, which is often dwarfed however by the towering dinosaur exhibits. Another place that your kids will enjoy greatly would be the Great Lakes Science Center which offers a large number of interactive science exhibits to engage visitors of all ages. The experience at the USS Cod Submarine Memorial is also claimed to be a “not to be missed” attraction in the city. Other noteworthy attractions include the Museum of Art, which is one of the top comprehensive art museums in the nation (and free of charge for all), the Botanical Garden, and the Metroparks Zoo which has the largest collection of primates in the United States.

If you are a little tired by the city exploration (not to mention dancing at the reunion ), a great place to rest and get something to eat is the century  old West Side Market , which has over 100 vendors selling all kinds of food items. You might also want to visit the stunningly beautiful University Circle area, which is widely regarded as the “most happening” locale in Cleveland.

If you are in the mood for an hour’s drive or so, do consider visiting the roller coaster capitol of the world cedar point located on a Lake Erie Peninsula. If you have passion for natural beauty and outdoors, make sure that you visit the famous Cuyahoga Valley National Park with its waterfalls and other scenic beauties such as the famous Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail which runs through the national park. Needless to say, a popular water park for kids is the famous Kalahari Resort, and for a different aqua experience, do visit the beautiful the Lake Erie beaches a couple of hours drive from the city. Cleveland stands true to the prediction once made by George Washington who said that a great city would stand in the blessed spot where the Cuyahoga River met Lake Erie. It is sure to become the icing on the cake for your reunion experience.
